MFA Thesis Exhibitions: “Ripple” and “Time Signature”

We are extremely pleased to commence 2017 Master of Fine Arts thesis exhibitions with two concurrent, solo thesis shows in the month of January at the UNO-St. Claude Gallery. “Time Signature” by Brent Houzenga and “Ripple” by Tyler P. Haney will both feature painting and portraiture as media and subjects. Houzenga states that he focuses on content of time and synchronicity, as well as “integrating the shadow,” with a “special interest in the discarded which puts him in a position where his process ends up eating itself,” in multi-media paintings and installation sourced from photographs and studio detritus. Haney’s close-cropped portraits in airbrush and mixed-media collages show his “investigation of perception and emotion.” He states, “The brain is a powerful tool that powers our visual perception and my work aims to give it something to work upon.”

The gallery, located at 2429 St. Claude Ave., will host an opening reception on Saturday, January 14, from 6-9 p.m. The exhibition will run from January 14 – February 5, 2017. Regular gallery hours are Sat-Sun, 12-5 p.m. Please direct any inquiries to Kathy Rodriguez via email at klrodri2@uno.edu or call the gallery during open hours at 504.948.6939.
