We are extremely pleased to announce an exhibition of new work by Generic Art Solutions, the collaborative artistic duo of UNO Artist in Residence Tony Campbell and UNO MFA alumnus Matt Vis, titled “10,000 RPM’s” at the UNO-St. Claude Gallery. This show is comprised of works that continue the artists’ investigation into the nature of collaboration itself, in artworks that “lay bare the dynamic elements that inevitably arise during the creative process when dual forces converge on a single idea.” A performance and video titled Streetfighter: Ninjas particularly addresses the confrontation and surrender involved in collaboration, and the glory and failure of conflict and bravado associated with the works. These accompany paintings, photos, and prints in the exhibition that explore the challenges of collaborative artmaking. Yotam Haber, the Kock Endowed Assistant Professor in the UNO Department of Music, has composed a score for the video work.
The gallery, located at 2429 St. Claude Ave., will host an opening reception on Saturday, March 12, from 6-9 p.m. The exhibition will run from March 12 – April 3, 2016. Regular gallery hours are Sat-Sun, 12-5 p.m. Please direct any inquiries to Kathy Rodriguez via email at klrodri2@uno.edu or call the gallery during open hours at 504.948.6939.
