We are excited to announce a three-person exhibition titled “Cut Tear Burn Sew” during the months of November and December at the UNO-St. Claude Gallery, and in conjunction with PhotoNOLA. Curated by UNO Department of Fine Arts’ Artist in Residence Ariya Martin, the show includes artworks by University of New Orleans Master of Fine Arts alumni Valerie Corradetti, Maria Levitsky, and Jeffrey Rinehart that explore the architecture and structure of images through the various methods the artists employ in making their work. Steeped in processes of chemistry, editing, and digital technology, photography is an especially apt medium for exploring the concept. The collaging, emulsions, printmaking, and sculptural forms these artists use are the first steps towards creating the composition of the photographs, which include subjects such as architecture and landscape.
We will host an opening reception at the gallery on Saturday, November 12, and a closing reception on Saturday, December 10, both from 6-9 p.m. Exhibition dates are November 12 – December 11, 2016. Regular gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 12-5 p.m. The exhibition may be viewed by appointment by contacting Kathy Rodriguez at klrodri2@uno.edu. Gallery staff may be reached by phone at (504) 948-6939 during regular hours.
